NSMA offers high-quality musical performances at comfortable, accessible venues where listeners are immersed in the experience without distractions. Our audience members tell us the connection they feel with artists onstage is both sensory and emotional – a joining of hearts and minds in joy, shared experience, and uplift that great music by generous souls can offer.
NSMA strives to provide a wide array of musical genres from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds each season, to broaden our community’s awareness and sense of belonging within the global community.

Join acclaimed Minnesota songwriter Dave Simonett—best known as the voice behind Trampled by Turtles and Dead Man Winter—for an intimate solo performance on the shores of Lake Superior. As part of North House Folk School's Unplugged celebration, this free outdoor concert invites you to bring a chair or blanket and enjoy an evening of exceptional live music on the Outdoor Commons (weather permitting). This free concert is part of North House Folk School's annual Unplugged celebration and was curated in partnership with the North Shore Music Association.

Event Description
Bizhiki returns to Grand Marais for a special evening at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. At the heart of Bizhiki are Joe Rainey Sr., Dylan Bizhikiins Jennings, and Sean Carey (S. Carey), joined for this performance by an expanded ensemble. Together, they create music that bridges cultures and generations—blending Anishinaabe stories, language, and both traditional and contemporary sounds into a powerful live performance.
Their return builds on last year’s residency, when Bizhiki performed for hundreds of Cook County students and shared their music with a sold-out audience at the ACA. This year’s expanded residency reaches even further, with programs in Grand Portage and performances for Cook County students on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, in addition to Saturday night’s community concert.

Choose the ticket price that works for you. Supporting tickets help us pay artists fairly and keep lower-cost tickets available; Standard is our regular ticket price; and Supported and Student tickets make the show more accessible. No questions asked. K–12 students attend free.
Ticket sales directly support the artists and help NSMA keep exceptional live music accessible to our community.
Advance tickets strongly recommended. Bizhiki’s Grand Marais concert sold out last year, with a waitlist at the door.
